Hello my name is Char; My passion in life is working with children! During the summer, I volunteer as a peer mentor in the Youth Program. What’s your story?I was bullied when I was in the 5th grade. I know what it’s like to be the new girl at school trying to make new friends. When I was being bullied, I forgot about being true to myself, as I was more concerned about being liked by my peers. Today, my friends are true friends who accept me for who I am. They don’t expect me to be or act like them. There is no peer pressure just genuine friendship. I am a dedicated member of Sister Girlfriends and happy to be a part of the YM team!
Hello my name is Meg; I love kids and I love helping people. I volunteer on a regular basis with Sister Girlfriends Youth Program. What’s Your Story: I was sexually abused as a teenager scared to talk to anyone about what happen. I was afraid of how people would react if I told them who sexually abused me. One day I got the courage to speak out against what happened to me, I received support and therapy that has helped me get back on track. I Joined Sister Girlfriends, because I feel empowered being around women who are very supportive. In return I have the opportunity to give back by volunteering in YM.
Hello my name is Tabby; I enjoy working with under-served populations and perfecting my Spanish speaking skills. During the summer, I volunteer in the youth mentoring program and Big Brothers & Big Sister program. Serving as a mentor constantly reminds me that everyone can make a difference in the lives of others by just being there when someone else needs an encouraging word. I am a member of Sister Girlfriends, because I believe in helping my sister and girlfriends.
